Fuego Adentro - Video Performance - 5:48 min
"Sacred Fire" a Mayan ritual that is usually led by men. In this performance I inverted the players to be led by a woman who keeps the fire alive, the fire is the main ancient and spiritual medicine of the Mayan cultures, it cannot be polluted and that is why it is sacred.
My artwork is inspired by nature, and it's always referring to the nature of being a female in this contemporary world. My body serves as a canvas to convey my objections to violent and patriarchal societies, that oppress women in any sense, I am aware of the differences we encounter as an immigrant artist I am interested to talk about the visibility and invisibility of our bodies.
